Burda coat pattern 7565 |
PDF |
I have traced the correct size, cut out the pattern and sewn up a mock-up.

By the way, the sizes Burda has published on their website and the sizes for this pattern differ significantly, so be vigilant and check finished garment measurements chart, you’ll be surprised to find that instead of size 43 you will need a size 46! Also all the numbers on downloaded pattern are very pixelated and almost impossible to read, so some detective work is required.
But in general everything seems to be ok, but I have noticed that this patterns allows just 4 cm all up for hems and seam allowances. I think the hems on longer coat should be at least 5 cm, plus seam allowance for lining. Lining for back vent will have to be re-drafted because I plan to use machine method to line this coat. The corner between facings and lining will also have to be checked and possibly adjusted. I can’t use fusible interfacings on the fabric I have chosen, because iron pressure crushes the fabric pile permanently, so I will pad-stitch and tape the edges by hand. Calico will be used to add support to back and top of the sleeve. I will add Vilene for shoulder support and to form a nice rounded sleeve cap.
The fabric I am using is Luxor 80% wool and poly lining in Rustic. I had pre-shrunk Luxor with steam and washed the lining, tape, and interfacing.
Next step - first fitting.
